"Faster!" Tikel yelled. "We don't have much time left!"
"I know!" Her twin brother, Lekit yelled back. "Just have patience; we have to be careful with this thing."
"Well he said the temple is going to collapse if we don't get the statue." Tikel said.
"Are you really going to trust what some old hermit said?" Lekit asked.
"I don't know why, but I do trust him. Remember what mom and dad said?" Tikel asked.
"Yes, I do; they said that we would have an important part in the world one day. But they didn't mean for us to go around, looking for our destiny." Lekit said.
"Oh well, the hermit said that this would reveal our destiny, and I want to find out what it is." Tikel said.
"Ok then." Lekit said sarcastically. "But you know; this would go a lot faster if you helped me look."
"Fine." Tikel said. "Now what color of statue were we supposed to find?"
"He said that the statue we need is red and shaped like a dragon holding a blank stone." Lekit said.
"Okay then." Tikel said.
She left to begin searching. After awhile, she found a staircase that led down.
"Where the hell does this lead?" She asked herself.
She began to go down the stairs.
"Enter and perish, human." Said a voice from deep below.
"Hey Lekit, come over here." Tikel said.
"What is it?" Lekit asked, walking over.
"What do you think is down there?" Tikel asked.
"I don't know. Let's check it out." Lekit said.
The twins walked down the stairs and into the darkness. As they reached the bottom, torches around the room lit themselves.
"Whoa." They said in unison.
They spotted three statues, one red, one blue, and one green, all standing on large pedestals right next to each other.
"We take the red one, right?" Tikel asked.
"Yeah." Lekit said. "But you need to stay here; this place is probably booby-trapped."
"If anyone should stay behind, it's you. I was the first-born." Tikel said.
"True, but mom and dad left me in charge when we left." Lekit said.
"And that decision still confuses me to this day." Tikel said. "Now just go grab the statue so we can get out of here."
Lekit slowly walked over to the statues. He picked carefully picked up the red dragon-shaped one. After he picked it up, he put it into the bag he had brought along.
"Okay, we've got the statue, now let's get going. This place just creeps me out." He said.
"What, are you afraid of some ancient temple filled with deadly artifacts?" Tikel asked.
"Just as anyone with common sense, I am." Lekit said.
As he finished speaking, the temple began to crumble.
"Oh no, run!" Lekit yelled.
"What, why?" Tikel asked. "It was only a tremor."
The ceiling above them began to fall down.
"Damn, run!" Lekit yelled fearfully. "We need to get out of here before the entire temple collapses!"
Tikel only ran after him in silence. As the two of them reached the top of the stairs, they collapsed.
"This is really bad; we need to get out of here before we get crushed." Lekit said.
Again, Tikel only followed in silence. The two continued back through the temple, following the same path they used to get in. As they neared the exit, the ceiling began quickly lowering. The two began running even faster. Tikel got to the other side just before her twin. The two quickly exited the temple and ran down the massive flight of stairs leading down to the forest.
"That was too close." Tikel said, panting.
"Let's never do that again." Lekit said.
"Agreed." Tikel replied.
"Did you get me the statue?" The hermit asked, walking up to them.
"Yes, and we nearly died getting this thing." Lekit said, pulling the statue out of his bag.
"Excellent." The hermit said, snatching the statue. "At last, my power shall return!"
"What do you mean?" Tikel asked.
"Oh, well you see, I'm not actually a hermit." The hermit said.
"Well what are you?" Lekit asked, pulling out the sword his father gave him before they left.
"I am the very evil you were trying to stop. The mighty warrior whose name was stripped from him for his wonderful acts of evil." The hermit said. "And at last, with this statue, I shall be returned to my full power!"
He then put the dragon statue into his chest.
"At last, I feel my old power returning to me!" He yelled in a much deeper voice.
Shadows began to form around him. His back straightened out and two small swords appeared in his hands. His entire body became encased in shadowy armor. His blood-red eyes looked out with a deep rage. He cracked a vicious smile.
"Thank you, without you two, I would not be in this position." He said. "And now, before I take control of Olarnis, I shall give you a quick, painless death for helping me, Tikel."
"And what about my brother?" Tikel asked.
"Well he agreed to help me in the first place." The shadow warrior said. "He saw through my plan and said that if I gave him a place in the army I'm going to create, that he would gladly help me. And you must remember, I may be evil, but even I am not the kind that goes back on his word."
"Is this true brother?" Tikel asked.
"I'm sorry, but it is." Lekit replied, walking over to the warrior. "Now what is thy will, my master?"
"You already have the powers, so your first task is to use them to destroy your sister." The warrior said.
"As you wish, my liege." Lekit said.
He walked over to his sister.
"I am sorry, but I can't fight the urge for power." He said.
He picked Tikel up by the throat.
"Please… you don't… have… to do… this." She choked out.
"Oh but I do, mother and father were the ones to strip our true lord of his name and imprison him in the state we met him in. In joining him, he will forgive our family of its cruelties." Lekit said. "Goodbye my sister, if only you had seen the wonders of the shadows."
He threw her into one of the trees. She was thrown with such force that she broke straight through it and nine more after it.
"Ugh." She said.
"Shall I continue, my lord?" Lekit asked.
"No, I can see her with a wound large enough that she will be gone within the next ten minutes." The warrior said. "We shall leave now to begin creation of our army. And now my boy, you must remember, you are my second in command. I already trust you for this job enough that if you give me advice, I will follow."
"Well I shall only advise you when you ask it of me." Lekit said. "I am your loyal servant for life."
"Then let us leave this putrid land of holiness; it sickens me." The warrior said.
He then created a portal in the ground.
"Follow me, through this portal are the lands in which my army lies dormant, just waiting for my return."
"As you wish, my lord." Lekit said, sheathing his sword and walking back to his new master.
"Please…" Tikel said, coughing up blood.
She had a large gash on the side of her head.
"Wait… you can't do this."
She stood up.
"Stay where you are, foolish girl." The warrior said. "You can't stop us now, my power grows with the second and there is nothing to stop me."
Tikel then collapsed from blood-loss and went unconscious.
